Day 18 — River Rhythms and the Scroll Hunt

Happy Sunday, adventurers! Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in my clue scroll grind—I've swapped my pickaxe for a fishing rod and set off to gather more scroll boxes by the riverbanks. 🎣

I began by using all the fishing bait I had stocked up to catch some pike. I think this might be my first time fishing pike, and I did it mainly because Charlie the Tramp sometimes asks for one in his clue scroll steps. After that, I moved on to feathers, aiming for trout and salmon, hoping to catch some scroll boxes and make a little profit on the side.

Yesterday, I mentioned that it felt strange only getting four scroll boxes while mining. Well… turns out there is a limit: the maximum number of scroll boxes you can hold at once is five! It’s always good to read the update logs carefully, lol.

Now, back to today’s fishing efforts—I managed to catch over 400 pike without a single scroll box. Not going to lie, that was a little discouraging. I started wondering whether fishing was really the right path for collecting clue scrolls. But then, mid-trout session, I leveled up Cooking to 83 (yay!) and shortly after, I finally got my first fishing scroll box! Just as I was beginning to lose hope. Classic OSRS RNG moment.

With a bit of renewed motivation, I’m pushing forward—aiming to catch and cook at least 1,000 trout and salmon. I’m still not sure if this method will yield scrolls as reliably as mining, but I’m enjoying the calm of the Barbarian Village river. The vibe is peaceful, the background music feels right, and even if players come and go, there's no stressful competition for spots. It's a slower pace, but sometimes that's just what you need.

Whether I end up pivoting to another method or staying riverside for a while longer, I’ll keep the grind going and keep you posted.

Today’s Achievement:
🎣 Caught over 1,000 fish (pike, trout, and salmon combined)
🔥 Reached level 83 Cooking
📜 Collected 1 new clue scroll box through Fishing

🐧Bird Fact of the Day
Did you know that fish-eating birds like the Ringed Kingfisher (Megaceryle torquata)—a brilliant species found throughout Central and South America—can consume up to their body weight in fish each day, depending on availability and need?! These dazzling birds are expert hunters and help keep aquatic ecosystems in balance.

See you tomorrow, adventurers! May your inventory stay light, your RNG be merciful, and your scrolls many. Until next time—stay sharp and skill on! 🐟📜✨
